And it was tough: the riders who made the podium all said that the course was probably the probably the hardest that they had ridden in the UK – but they also made special mention for the fantastic atmosphere in Grosmont as they passed through the village – and much they enjoyed the chance to ride in front of enthusiastic crowds.
Victory in 2017 finally went to Joe Nally from Scotland. Joe is now member of British team and rides regularly for GB at international events. He recently rode for the GB Team in the Tour de Yorkshire. Mason Hollyman won the race in 2018 and went on to win the British Cycling National Junior series – and then race for the GB Team at the Junior World Championships Road Race. He is spending most of this season racing in France and Italy for the Zappi Holdsworth Racing Team.
The junior race sponsored by Cwmtillery Glass Centre will take place in 2019 on Sunday 30th June. Our plan is for the same roads to be used – and for the arrangements to close and open the roads to be very similar to last year. We have tried to limit the duration of the road closure in 2019 to reduce the inconvenience to local residents, but we also have to make sure that everyone – riders and members of the public – are safe.
