From Abergavenny’s own Elvis, Keith Davies, to clowns and even a rider pulling a house, they all rode around the roads in the Traders and Carnival Race.

Abergavenny Festival of Cycling organiser Bill Owen said: “It is always great to add a splash of colour to our evening of racing but this year’s entries were really top class.”

The results were of secondary importance as the prime aim was to raise funds and awareness for the North Gwent Cardiology Rehabilitation charity who had their own bevvy of riders in the field, sporting tops with various ‘hearts cards’.

However, the top three in the two races were Emma Morgan, first, Fred Morgan, second, and Paul Cable in third for the Fancy Dress Carnival Race.

In the Traders competition, Alan Haird won it with Marty Jones in second place and Lloyd Beedell coming third.

But the real winners were everyone who all rode the course with beaming smiles and thoroughly enjoyed their fun in the sun.
